Black and Fossil Coral 15 Inches High Quality Marble Chess Set

I purchased this for my other half. He enjoys playing from time to time, and this set was so beautiful I couldn't resist.I am SO pleased! And so is he more importantly! It's even more beautiful in person!The pieces are all sculpted perfectly with smooth edges. The board is perfectly level, smooth, and easy on the eyes. It's heavier than you would think too because of the marble, but easy to move around, as it is stored in the case it comes with. And the case is nice too: a dark blue velvety/suade type of material covers the case, and everything fits very comfortably inside. And all of these beautiful pieces will stay dust-free :)Cost was somewhat high, but similar to comparable sets.. so I'd say it was fair. And in think it was worth it in the end!Delivery was quick too, and it was packaged *really*well!.A big thumbs up for this beautiful, hand-sculpted chess set!

This set is really nice. The board is heavy and well made, and the pieces are nicely made.I did have an issue with a queen snapping when putting it back in the padded case, however it looks like this was due to a natural micro-fissures in the marble itself, and was easily fixed with some superglue, and is not noticeable. Haven't had any other issues with any of the pieces.I would suggest adding some felt pads to the bottoms of the pieces to avoid scratching the marble board. You can purchase marble sealer and do it quite easily, and plan to do it soon.

The product, as you may imagine, even though it was amazingly wrapped with styrofoam and an overabundance of tape, was vulnerable to get damaged. It is stone, after all. Since it was made of natural materials, there were some microcracks. Negligible and almost invisible, for what it's worth - it's just that I work for Quality Management (ISO Processes) so I notice flaws right away. If it were any other company, that would have been an expensive $149 disappointment. Read on for my experience with them.I saw in the comments that they were very helpful so I sent them an e-mail.Very helpful group of folks. They were generous enough to give me a replacement board without the hassle of returning the other one when I found some damage. For the pieces that were broken, I had to order extra ones for about on a separate radicaln link for about $29. The company was patient and deliberate in explaining to me their charges. They gave me 4 pieces for that and 4 more when I complained it was so expensive for just 4. I used to work pricing for a logistics company so when they explained that they were paying DHL $38 to ship from where they were (I think they are from Pakistan).So I have two boards now and a lot of extra pieces. I'm using the flawed one as a centerpiece on my living room table (plus the extra/micro-cracked pieces) and the new one as the actual board displayed somewhere else with all the pieces in another room.I think it's a great investment. This is a perfect example of how great people make the product great and not how great products make people great. You won't regret buying from RadicalN.

Pros:Shipped ahead of schedule.Great looking and well made board and pieces.Heavy, solid.Outer and inner storage box looks nice,One piece broken, one malformed and unpolished, I sent the co. a message, they mailed me new overnight. AWESOME!!!functional.Cons:Way under packed, surprised it wasn't in rubble.Storage boxes are just cardboard, not bad but, the bottoms are covered with really thin paper, tears easily.Board had black stuff in places and wear marks from the paper on the bottom of the storage box.I was able to remove the black with GooGone then I polished the top of the board with wax. Looks great now.One knight was broken and one pawn malformed and unpolished, as stated above.- I will glue felt on the bottom of the board.-I would recommend this set to anyone looking for a displayable, playable chess set.-Overall, excellent.

I'm not a Chess professional so if you're looking for a specific weight on the pieces, or you intend to use this for speed Chess games, this is probably not the way to go. I bought this mainly for decoration and for the occasional casual game and for that purpose this set is amazing. The pieces look beautiful, and they all feel somewhat heavy as expected from the marble material. They come with some foam adhesive circles to stick to the bottoms but these were pretty badly cut and look terrible so I just threw them away; I might end up buying some felted bottoms that you can find anywhere for furniture and such, but I feel like as long as you're careful when handling the pieces it shouldn't be necessary. Overall, I love this and I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a nice looking and high quality set.
